THE JJ SLEIFFER SCHOLARSHIP

The Jochem-Jan Sleiffer Study Placement was launched to honour the incredible legacy of much-loved and admired Hilton colleague, JJ Sleiffer – who passed away in April 2023. JJ was well known for supporting others and ‘paying forward’ his own opportunities, whether through serving as a mentor, opening career doors, or by simply providing thoughtful advice.

Continuing JJ’s remarkable legacy of helping others, the JJ Sleiffer Study Placement provides Hilton team members currently working at either a Hilton-branded hotel or Hilton office in the Middle East & Africa with a chance to pay their own Hilton opportunity forward, by nominating a close family member for a funded 10-month hospitality study placement at the Dubai College of Tourism. All applicants will be required to demonstrate that a close family member works at Hilton.

 

HOW TO APPLY:

To submit an application*, applicants need to apply by following these steps:

  1. Fill out the DCT application form here and answer the How did you hear about DCT question, by selecting other and insert the word Hilton in the text box.

* Applications must be submitted by the person who intends to apply for the program, not the Hilton team member who has nominated them.

** DCT will assist in obtaining a student visa, which will allow the successful applicant to live and study in the UAE for the duration of their studies. For more information about visas, click here.

Last year, Alinafe Kajiwa from Malawi was named the winner of the Jochem-Jan Sleiffer Study Placement. Inspired by her father Harry, a longtime Hilton team member, Alinafe had always dreamed of a career in hospitality. Leaving Malawi for the first time, she seized the life-changing opportunity to move to the UAE and study at the Dubai College of Tourism. She excelled in the ten-month hospitality operations programme at DCT and is now set to embark on a promising career with Hilton.
