The Sustainability Education Leaders Programme is a programme for teachers from selected schools that are making an outstanding effort in boosting sustainability education in the UAE. School teachers play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for nurturing interest in students to pursue education and careers in the field of environment and sustainability. The programme therefore equips teachers with skills, knowledge, and a high level platform to identify young changemakers and guide them toward impactful careers in sustainability. The selected teachers will be pioneers in sustainability education in the UAE. The programme is offered free of cost to the school and teachers.

Programme structure

Week 1: Welcome and kick-off 

Week 2: Training on science of climate change, and identifying and nurturing the sustainability mindset

Week 3: Training on solutions for climate action, and mentoring the sustainability mindset

Week 4: Training on career pathways in sustainability, and driving action for sustainability

Youth Sustainability Week. Students selected by Sustainability Education Leaders participate in a hackathon organised in the school to solve a sustainability challenge

The Sustainability Summer Immersion Experience is an exciting 3-day summer camp designed to motivate grade 9 to grade 12 students to play an important role in Dubai’s net zero transition! As the UAE accelerates its transition to a greener economy, this summer programme is an opportunity for students to learn and feel empowered,  through exposure to the field of sustainability across different sectors in Dubai. 

Programme Structure

Day 1 – Foundations of Sustainability & Project Ideation

Receive the AED 300 grant and learn about the building blocks of sustainability, brainstorm ideas for the real-world sustainability challenge you want to solve using the grant amount, and then engage in discussions with participating students and programme managers to refine your chosen idea.

Day 2 – Project Impact & Budget

Enhance your climate and sustainability knowledge by looking at interesting solutions that exist in the world today. Develop a business pitch by answering key questions on how to maximise impact and budget for your project.

Day 3 – Project Execution & Future Pathways. Understand how to scale sustainability projects, and execute your project in a real-world setting to understand the impact that can be generated and identify areas of improvement for the future of your project.

WHAT IS INCLUDED? 

• Masterclasses on climate change.
• A 300AED grant to design and implement your own sustainability solution.
• Support to take the project from idea to execution.
• Programme materials and a certificate of completion.

Youth Sustainability Month, starting April 7th 2025, brings together students selected by Sustainability Education Leaders for a 120-minute hackathon at their schools. Running concurrently, this challenge encourages innovative thinking to solve real-world sustainability issues. Winning teams will be invited to DCT to present their solutions to industry experts, receive valuable feedback, and explore career opportunities in sustainability. This platform celebrates their creativity while offering a chance to network, learn, and get inspired to drive meaningful change.
